Nishikori set for elbow surgery
Kei Nishikori hopes to put an end to his current injury drama with shoulder surgery which Asia’s top player hopes will have him ready to go for the 2020 ATP season.
The 29-year-old Japanese ace opted for the procedure after a hit-or-miss season; his last match was a US open third-round defeat.,
The AP reported that Nishikori’s handlers said the No. 8 will this week undergo a “small procedure removing two small bone spurs.”
Under a best-case scenario, Nishikori should begin light training in early December to prepare for the January 20 start of the Australian Open.
The elbow problem has been bothering the 2014 US Open finalist since Roland Garros four months ago.,.
Nishikori once stood fourth in the world; he complied a 29-14 record this season, winning the Brisbane title in January.
