Nadal hopes to test his injury luck in London
Rafael Nadal said on Tuesday he plans to go to London and try his luck after a weekend abdominal muscle tear which forced him to quit the Paris Masters.
The Spaniard posted his plans on social media:
“Hello everyone. Yesterday I had a resonance in Mallorca and despite having a small strain in the right abdominal, I will travel to London. Thursday or Friday I will start adapting to the service. The idea is to be able to play the #atpfinals in London. Thanks for the support!”
British media suggest that the 33-year-old who is fighting for year-end No. 1 status with Paris champion Novak Djokovic. will try his serve only later in the week, after travelling to the capital.
Nadal said he felt abdominal pain during his morning warm-up prior to a Paris semi-final with Djokovic, resulting in the Spaniard withdrawing and heading home to Mallorca.
Nadal has never won the eight-man season-wrapup event, with his best finishes finals in 2010 and 2013.
